Families is seeking your assistance. As
you are probably aware, Yavapai College Community Education programs are a
wonderful asset to our community. =
Off
and on for many years programming has been available through Community
Education at YC that is specifically geared to the adult special-needs
population. We are very excited to=
once
again be offering these classes to individuals who otherwise would not be a=
ble
to further their education at the college level through non-credit coursewo=
rk. When classes were offered in the past t=
hey
always filled; however much of the population can no longer participate due=
to
prohibitive cost.
Our goal is to provide an ong=
oing
program of consistent, appropriate class opportunities for this highly
deserving population. Class subject
matter covers both: life skills and high interest/recreational courses. Life skills classes include topics such=
as
cooking, independent living, self-defense, and academic subject matter; whi=
le
high interest/recreational classes include subjects such as dance, drama,
photography, scrapbooking and music. We
are currently offering 2 classes each semester, and would like to expand th=
is
to 4 classes a semester beginning Fall 2012.
Cost of an average 6 week cla=
ss
through Yavapai College Community Education is currently $75.00/student. This cost is prohibitive to many studen=
ts,
based on their limited income and work status.
We are attempting to reduce the cost of these classes to $35/student=
by
soliciting community charitable contributions, which will be supervised thr=
ough
the Yavapai College Foundation. Yo=
ur
sponsorship of a class will be tax deductible and acknowledged in our
advertising as well as the YC Community Education catalogue.
What You Can Do ~
Sponsor a class ~ A donation of $400 will sponsor a class of 10 students=
for a
6 week session.
Sponsor ½ class ~ A $200 contribution will off-set the cost of 5 students
attending.
Donate to our supply fund ~ Many<=
/span>
classes (cooking, crafts, etc.) require materials; which have often come fr=
om
the teacher. Any donation would be
appreciated.
